Type-C 6P Board

The Type-C 6P board is a compact USB Type-C receptacle breakout or adapter board built around a 6-pin Type-C female connector. It provides a simple, low-cost way to add USB Type-C power connectivity to a project or device without the complexity of the full 24-pin Type-C interface.

Design and Construction

This board centers on a 6-pin USB Type-C receptacle mounted on a small PCB. Unlike the full-featured 24-pin Type-C connector, the 6-pin version carries only the essential pins — typically VBUS, GND, and CC (Configuration Channel) — making it a power-focused interface rather than a full data-capable port.

The 6P Type-C connector is commonly used because it supports reversible insertion and can handle higher current charging than Micro USB, while keeping the connector and board footprint small. On a breakout board, the 6 pins are usually routed to solder pads, through-holes, or screw terminals, allowing easy wiring to a power source, load, or charging circuit.

A typical 6P Type-C board includes:

• CC resistors — often pre-installed 5.1 kΩ pull-down resistors to signal a sink device and request power from a Type-C source
